Estate Shiraz 2011
The year the drought broke, and did it ever! Six hundred millimetres of rain and much of it during the growing season which is not what vineyard management needs. As a consequence our vines produced larger bunches and fuller grapes than normal so in order to concentrate the Shiraz wine 800 litres of juice was separated from the skins just after crushing to make a delightful Rosé .
The 2011 Shiraz is a lighter wine than our previous vintages but has developed well in the bottle, displays good spice flavours typical of cooler climate Shiraz and comes into its own when matched with food.
Estate Shiraz 2010
Despite a very dry winter and spring our Shiraz vines produced a substantial crop. Good rainfall in December followed by a dry, warm January and February provided perfect conditions for fruit development right up to harvest. This resulted in fruit of excellent quality.
This very smart, elegant wine has developed over its time in the bottle and is drinking beautifully now. It will continue to reward careful cellaring if you have the patience to put it aside.
Posted on our Facebook page by Richard G. June 2020 “ I opened a 2010 Sheoak Hill Estate Shiraz this week and drank it with a porterhouse steak, hot mustard and jacket potato. Fantastic! I still have a couple of 2007 Shiraz which I suppose should be opened sometime soon? Richard

Perfumed black and blue fruits on the nose, with some maturity developing. Beautiful palate – long and elegant with intense plum flavours, great tannins and lovely mouthfeel.’
Estate Shiraz 2009
The 2009 vintage began with very dry conditions but rain in December supported the fruit through another hot, dry season until an early harvest in March. The reduced crop of small, intensely flavoured berries has produced a spicy wine with predominantly dark berry aromas typical of the Heathcote terroir.

A deeply coloured full-bodied wine, with abundant black fruits in the bouquet. Flavours of plum and blackberries are evident on the palate enhanced with black pepper and spice. This luscious, balanced wine is intense and concentrated. The wine is drinking beautifully now and due to its fine tannin structure will continue to age well over the next decade.

Estate Shiraz 2007
The 2007 season saw frost and drought with an earlier than usual vintage in late March. The dry grown grapes were hand picked and barrel fermented with the fruit’s natural yeasts in a blend of new French oak barriques, and aged oak.
This wine is the result of the careful selection and blending of barrels in December 2008. The rich black fruit flavours from our young vine fruit is balanced with savoury notes of spice and pepper to add depth and character from the original vines. The 07 Shiraz is a dry, elegant and beautifully balanced wine which shines when matched with food and will gain in complexity as it ages.

Old Vine Reserve Shiraz 2014
For the first vintage since 2008 we have been able to select a small parcel of our fruit to create this lovely Reserve wine. Hand picked from selected vines in our ‘old block’ this wine was handled separately through out the maturation process.
This wine began its ferment in a small open fermenter before being free run into French oak barrels to complete its fermentation. It was bottled after 15 months in its barrels. While it is a delicious wine at this point it will certainly reward patient cellaring for the wine collector.

Reserve Shiraz 2008
This Reserve Shiraz was created after considered tasting from an equal blend of old vine and young vine fruit barrel fermented and matured in a 40% - 60% blend of new and aged French oak. The intense flavours of blackberry, cassis and cedar are balanced by the ripe tannins which carry the wine through to a very long and satisfying finish. This wine will age well in your cellar for at least the next decade.
Reserve Shiraz 2007
Made from a careful selection of barrels this powerful and complex wine displays rich, sweet blackberry and complex aromas of roasted coffee bean, char and spice that leap from the glass. On the long, mouth filling palate, concentrated dark fruit and pepper sit well with layers of spice and a firm tannin finish which will give long life in the cellar.

Here the savoury tannins are present from start to finish, but the greater density of the blackberry, spice and liquorice fruit is sufficient to carry those tannins.

Chardonnay 2010
Despite hot dry conditions over this growing season the Chardonnay vines faired well and produced three tonnes of fruit. Picked at the beginning of March this wine was naturally barrel fermented in French oak. Lees stirring added depth and complexity to this delightful wine which finishes on the palate with fresh citrus and biscuit flavours.
Chardonnay 2009
This fruit was hand picked in early March 2009. Adverse weather conditions had necessitated fruit thinning leading up to harvest consequently only a small number of cases were produced from our small block of Chardonnay vines in this vintage.
Whole bunches of fruit were gently balloon pressed to tank and underwent fermentation with indigenous yeasts in small French oak barrels for twelve months to produce this delightful Chablis style wine with rich fruit flavours of melon, pear, and sweet citrus. The palate displays a layer of added complexity with honey and mineral tones. This wine has a dry, lingering finish. Alc 13%
